Veteran Hollywood Stuntman Carl Paoli translates his fearlessness into graffiti using the street art name “SCREWTAPE”.

“SCREWTAPING” creates and outlines a public canvas, whether his own art or a blank space on a wall waiting to be filled, he lures the viewers in to experience art and question their own existence. Be it sexuality or the desire for adventure and excitement.

His intrepid lifestyle is also translated to canvas by constructing new images while painting them in a raw, exhilarating and often erotic moments and he delivers them in a radical, urban, contemporary “SCREWTAPE” style.

Take a closer look. SCREWTAPE’S style is a non aggressive, non vandalizing form of public art. It is highly visible and can be easily removed. His goal is not to destroy other’s property. It is to put up his art and point the way to other art and points of interest. All graffiti is ephemeral. It washes away over time or is buffed out. SCREWTAPE just gives property owners and the public the choice to remove it. Most pieces end up re-adhered to a permanent surface under glass and frame once removed from the urban canvas. If you see SCREWTAPE on the streets, ask him for a roll of SCREWTAPE. He usually has an extra roll on hand to give out. It’s amazing how much other people put up his SCREWTAPE. We all SCREWTAPE in one way or another.

A street artist is doing some amazing new street art in and around NYC.
He goes by the name of HANKSY.
Add the overwhelming popularity of Tom Hanks to the cool factor of the most famous street artist of all time, Banksy, and you get HANKSY. HANKSY has become a social media phenomenon with his imaginative street art spoofs by taking images of Banksy’s work and adding in references from Tom Hanks’ films.
“People have speculated whether HANKSY is just a play on words or perhaps something a bit more, does he hate Banksy? Is it homage to one of the greatest street artists and actors of our time? Maybe it’s an attempt to subvert the subversiveor perhaps it plays on the uniquely American pleasure the public finds in trivial imagery. Maybe in the end its much more straightforward? Add a certain ‘sometimes’ vowel at the end of a specific actor’s surname and it sounds an awful lot like the world’s most well-known street artist.

How do I make people look so small or why do I make people look so small, simple…WE ARE. In the big picture we are just a small blip of what the world truly is. I enjoy the power I have to change the perspective of the way people look at the world and maybe at themselves.

Photographers need inspiration like all artists of all types of art, mine is travel. From my series “Tilt-Shift”ing the world you can see only a small piece of the world that I have seen. Travel-Photography, Photography-Travel, they go hand in hand with me. The love of both is one. My passion to try and make the iconic places and structures that man desires to see and has for centuries traveled to see, is the same desire that drives me to go there and photograph them. I have been an avid photographer for over 25 years and have taken thousands upon thousands of photographs of iconic buildings.

Liz Darlington

Liz Darlington is a photographer from New Zealand currently residing in the United States. Her work has been exhibited both locally and nationally. Coming from a background in the television and new media industry, she combines digital processes with traditional photographic methods to construct cinematic tableaus. She draws the imagery from her extensive travels that have taken her to more than 40 different countries over the last 17 years.

Her work frequently seeks to question the relationship between photographic representation and memory. Memories are an amalgam of events, people, places, thoughts and ideas that are transient by nature, and frequently misrepresent actual lived experience. The fictionalized – even dreamlike – quality of the images attempts to instill a timelessness; they represent neither past, nor present, nor future. Despite their self-evident falsity, we are inexplicably drawn towards the romance and the nostalgia of the images, perhaps because they are fictionalized and culturally determined much like memory. Although her work can easily be read as pictorialist photography, the images evoke a sense of discomfort that firmly grounds the series in the context of post-millennium contemporary art.

Darlington resides part of her year in the United States and the other part in the South of France. She is currently employed as a Professor of Photography at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia.
