Artist Statement:
Hanging out of an open helicopter hundreds of meters
above the ground, German born artist Stephan Zirwes
composes his graphical abstractions that challenge the
viewers perception of actuality.
While at first glance the images seem digitally manipulated,
a closer look reveals they are in fact untouched reality.
On a surface level the pictures allow an unemotional, aesthetic
View. From Zirwes perspective. As the viewer digs deeper
political and socio-criticalthemes emerge. Capturing images all
over the world, he lets the borders between reality and fiction
disappear.
